HIGH USE OF CHEMICALS IN TEXTILES
We place high demands on our clothing. They should be brightly
coloured, crease-resistant, sweat-repellent and and not shrink
when washed. To ensure that the fabrics have the desired
properties, the textiles are "refined" using mechanical and
chemical processes that involve the use of hazardous chemicals.
02
DANGER TO HUMANS AND NATURE
On average, 90 % of the chemicals used and 20 % of the used
colourants used flow into waste water. In addition to the
environmental impact chemicals jeopardise the health of workers
in the textile industry. When wearing clothing, the substances can
penetrate the skin through friction and sweat.
